Frida Mexicana opened its doors in May 2023, but our story began long before then.
For more than ten years, we worked with Mexican flavours, recipes and techniques; refining every detail, learning from tradition and finding the balance that would eventually become Frida Mexicana.
What began as a love for Mexican food became something much greater: a way to express our admiration for a culture shaped by family, resilience, celebration and a deep connection to the table.
ROOTED IN TRADITION
Our food is inspired by the traditional flavours and culinary heritage of Puebla, Mexico.
Poblano cooking is layered, generous and full of character. It is a cuisine built through time: chillies toasted to deepen their flavour, meats cooked slowly until tender, sauces balanced with care and recipes shaped by generations.
At Frida Mexicana, we respect those foundations while creating food that feels vibrant, generous and full of flavour.
Every dish is more than something placed on a plate. It represents the work, technique and passion behind the culture that inspired it.
We cook from scratch because authentic flavour cannot be rushed.
MORE THAN A RESTAURANT
Frida Mexicana was never created to be a fast-food experience.
It is a place to sit down, slow down and enjoy the moment.
A place to relax with a michelada, a cold Jarritos or a margarita in hand. A place to share tacos across the table, celebrate a birthday, reconnect with friends or enjoy dinner with someone you love.
We believe the best meals are not only remembered for what was served, but for who was sitting around the table.
That is the experience we want to create at Frida: food that brings people together and moments that stay with them long after the meal is over.
THE FRIDA SPIRIT
Our name is inspired by Frida Kahlo: an artist whose work carried a powerful sense of identity, cultural pride and personal expression.
Her life reflected courage, resilience and the determination to continue creating despite adversity. Her connection to her Mexican heritage was present throughout her work and remains an inspiration around the world.
Those values are part of the spirit we want Frida Mexicana to represent: staying true to where we come from, expressing ourselves with colour and character, and creating something meaningful through passion.

To us, family has no single definition.
It can be the people we grew up with, the person we choose to share our life with, a group of lifelong friends or a new community finding its place together.
Frida Mexicana is a space for every kind of family to gather.
